About Kim

I am not the expert who never struggled. I am the person who did.

I am a certified health coach, author, and speaker. I live in Berkeley, California with my partner Eric. And I spent most of my adult life chronically ill, exhausted, and convinced my body was the problem.

Chapter One

The conditions I lived with.

Polycystic Ovarian ConditionBinge Eating DisorderMajor Depressive DisorderHypothyroidismLevel 3 ObesityMetabolic DysfunctionGastritisIBSAutoimmune Disease

I had all of it, often at the same time, for most of my life. I saw plenty of doctors. Some of them were kind. Almost none of them were helpful. My labs were usually within the reference range, so nothing was technically wrong.

I was told to eat less and move more, to manage stress, to try a new medication, to come back in six months. I did what I was told, and I kept getting sicker.

Chapter Two

The turn.

Not “what is wrong with me,” but “what would it actually take to become a healthy human?”

As forty started to loom, I finally asked a different question. I did not find a single answer. I found a project. Over the next several years I read, experimented, tracked, failed, and tried again. I learned how to read my own blood work. I changed what I ate. I stopped outsourcing my body to people who barely knew me.

The conditions did not vanish overnight. Some of them took years to unwind. But one by one, they loosened their grip, and the person I became in the process is someone I genuinely like.

Chapter Three

Why I coach.

When I came out the other side, the only thing that felt urgent was sharing what I had learned with the people who had been where I was.

I do not teach perfection. I do not sell a transformation. I teach the skill of self-advocacy, the habit of self-improvement, and the quiet stubbornness it takes to refuse a diagnosis of “fine” when you know you are not.

My Tenets

What I believe.

Five truths I come back to every time I sit down with a new client.

  1. 01

Most chronic illness is metabolic before it is anything else.

  2. 02

Your labs are a tool. You are allowed to read them.

  3. 03

Self-advocacy is not arrogance. It is the baseline requirement of adult healthcare.

  4. 04

The best version of you is almost never the smallest or fastest version of you.

  5. 05

No one is coming to save you. That is actually good news, because it means you have more power than you have been told.
